Registration from 11:00am Event starts at 12:00 Toilets, bag drop, snacks, hot & cold drinks
Join us for a brand new 5K run following footpaths and byways in a loop around Sapiston and Honington in Suffolk’s picturesque Black Bourn Valley. The route is a mix of road and off road and, as it also crosses a few minor roads and follows a short section of the Black Bourn river, any runners under the age of 16 must run within an arm’s length of a responsible adult. We will have volunteer marshals based at various checkpoints around the route, but they are not allowed to assist you at road crossings. There will be a tail runner/walker following on to make sure everyone returns safely.
Registration opens at 11am. There will be a mass start at noon, and the runners will be chip timed around this undulating and mixed terrain comprising sand, stones, grass, tarmac, woodland tracks and fields. There’ll also be a few gates to negotiate (please close any gates behind you). Depending on the weather, there may be a few tricky parts e.g. mud and puddles, but there'll be no cut off time so there’s no need to feel you have to rush. Sorry, but this one isn’t suitable for running buggies. Headphones are allowed, but please remove them on the on-road sections. Sorry, no dogs. There will be free hot and cold drinks in the Village Hall, a bag drop and toilets, and bespoke medals for all finishers.
There is car parking at the Village Hall where the event starts and finishes, but please car share if you can to help reduce potential disturbance to those living nearby.
If you have any questions please email [email protected]. We are proud to be working with our partners, The Brecks Fen Edge & Rivers Landscape Partnership (BFER), and Suffolk County Council’s Rights of Way and Access Team, and supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund, to help introduce people to local landscapes and rights of way they may not have visited before.
