Honington & Sapiston WI meeting on Tuesday 11th June 2024 Twenty-seven members gathered on a chilly June evening to enjoy the monthly WI meeting. After the singing of Jerusalem, the giving of birthday posies and the amusing roll call Tricia introduced the speaker, Cheryl Brighty. Cheryl is an amazing speaker who told us the history of chocolate while making chocolates and explaining what she was doing. She had no notes and it was all fascinating. The chocolates she made were extraordinarily delicious. She told us that the price of the chocolate she uses has gone up 100% this year. It was a very enjoyable demonstration that went well over time, but nobody minded!
After refreshments we had time to listen to Joanne's report of the National Federation meeting she attended at the Royal Albert Hall. Joanne recommended all members try to attend one of these meetings, which she had enjoyed and found very moving. There are now 180,000 WI members and the singing by 5,000 members in the hall had proved tear jerking for Joanne and, no doubt, for many more of those present.
Tricia reminded us to look at the Hive and told us next month's meeting will open at 7pm for the summer meal. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
