Art For Pleasure Every Wednesday 09.30 - 12.30
Ceramic Class Every Thursday 10.00 -13.00
The Art Group meets on Wednesday mornings and has just has its second birthday. Originally this group was advertised as Painting for Pleasure and Better Health. It is well known in Medical circles that Art and Craft classes held in a social environment, stimulate brain activity and improve mood and reduce depression.
Over the two years 20+ beginners have learnt to draw and paint in watercolour, acrylics, oils, and pastel with amazing results. We are currently preparing for our second exhibition which we will share with the Ceramic Painting Group on the 1st May to be held in our lovely hall from 10.00am to 4.oopm. Entry is free and all are welcome and encouraged to come and talk to group members about their work and painting journey so far.
We always welcome new members whatever their level of skill, no experience or equipment is necessary as materials are provided within the weekly charge of £3.00.
The Ceramic Painting group is smaller and started a year later in February 2016. The charge is the same and again materials and equipment are provided. During our first year we have painted beakers, cheeseboards, trivets, soap dispensers and beautiful Christmas Decorations. As well as creating useful household items and gifts we have learned that because, unlike working on paper, the paint does not dry on ceramics until it is fired in the kiln, we can keep changing it until we have a good result. The perfect way for beginners to learn to paint.
